Montgomery Family - Mother's Day Sessions '17

Ok this family - ONE OF MY FAVES. Seriously, they give of themselves continually for others, for their family ... they serve with their whole hearts each week at my church, they love and take care of their kiddos so sweetly and now they've added 2 to the bunch! Danielle and Justin are such an example of selfless love to me and I'm grateful for them.

Commitment.

Every mama knows, when they see those positive lines on the pregnancy test or lay eyes on that photo of the child they'll one day adopt, or sees a need and knows it's theirs to fulfill, they just know - its go time. It's time to give and give and give, but gain so much more back in love and joy and purpose. They know it will be hard and tiring and overwhelming, but also SO fun and life bringing and joyful. This motherhood commitment is the best kind - for and because of love.

Gibson Family - Mother's Day Sessions '17

These Mother's Day Sessions are special for a lot of reasons - mama's got photos they'll treasure forever , kiddos/dads got to give a wonderful gift and hopefully, these mom's felt at least a little more special during or because of their shoot. I believe photos are very affirming - they remind us of what's most important and what we have to be so grateful for.

These sweet Gibson kiddos were fun! crazy, but fun ;) and can we not all agree they are just beautiful!? It was wonderful to meet Erika and spend some great time with her and the kids. These photos are so extra special for this family and I was so happy to see their individual and unique personalities come out during our shoot.

Determined.

As mama's we've got be set - in what we believe and fight for for our families, in how we are going to raise our babies and in the hard work it takes to raise them. Kids are crazy and we all know, we were kids once! ;) But as mama's to keep on, keeping on with crazy kids takes determination. Here's to all the determined mama's out there!

Mariani Family - Mother's Day Sessions '17

I have so many wonderful photos of wonderful families to share with you from these Mother's Day Sessions. This is the Mariani family. I could tell Alexis & Bob really love & enjoy their little Bobbi and Katie. We had a great time walking in the park and catching some awesome evening light. Leading me to talk about the next word I think best describes Moms:

Fun.

Not only do mama's work their tails off at home and some in the office too! But we really all are called to help (along with dad) set the tone for the household, from day to day. It is so important to teach our kiddos about being kind and how to obey, but another important lesson - have fun, enjoy your life. We know being a mother is a gift and we want our little ones to soak up the precious gift of life they've been given too. So we make silly faces and sing crazy songs or play hide and seek a billion times. But the thing our kids might not know is, we're having just as much fun living life with them.

Ferguson Family - Mother's Day Sessions '17

GUYSSSSSS. I've been taking SO many baby photos lately ... I'm having all the baby feverrrrrrr! How can you not when you look at this precious little guy?! How adorable is Danelle's sweet little Jack?!

Gentle

As I continue to think of words that describe these and all the wonderful mothers I know, this word is a must. Gentleness is a part of every mother's moment by moment - sweet hugs, kisses, always reassuring, a calm presence, rocking to sleep ... All of this and many more sweet, precious words, actions and efforts to make sure our children feel cared for. Keep on mama! That love seems unnoticed, but it truly plays a huge part in who your children are and how they see themselves.

Eberhardts - Mother's Day Sessions '17

Another adorable set of kiddos and another sweet mama! It is really such a gift to meet so many new people and their family's through my photography. The Eberhardts were another new client and they were just great to work with - super sweet and their kiddos did awesome too! As we continue with this series, here is another words that describes mothers:

Selflessness

We all need to be more selfless, even if we don't have the role of mother - for a family to work everyone has to give! Mom's learn quickly though, as it literally takes all they have to carry, then birth their baby, that this new little human must have all of you. It is a hard mental decision to consistently make, but most mamas run on love and that makes it all easier ;)
